Preview | February 17
Fulham are a side on the incline. They come into this game unbeaten in their previous 3 matches. They've overcome a below average scoring attack. Their average xG (expected goals) of 1.23 is 6th lowest in the league. Andreas Pereira leads the way with assists this season and has 5 so far (17th in the EPL). On the attacking side, Willian has been their leader this season with 37 shots taken (41st in the EPL).
Villa's form is on a downward spiral. Their recent struggles have seen them fall to 5th in the table. In terms of ball possession and chance creation, Villa have recorded 56% possession (7th in the league) this season, while taking 14.9 shots per match. Advanced metrics evaluate their average xG (expected goals) at 1.74 this year. With 30 tackles and 20 interceptions, Boubacar Kamara ranks as one of the best in the league defensively.
Fulham-Villa Prediction: 0-1
Villa's robust defence should help them pick up three vital points away from home.
Did you know? Villa travelled to Craven Cottage to play Fulham in 2020 and won 3-0. That remains the most goals the Cottagers have conceded to the Villans at home in the Premier League.
Can the Cottagers keep their point streak going? Will the Villans put their last loss behind them? If you like the look of our prediction, you can bet on that, and much more, at PokerStars Sports.

Nickname: The Cottagers
Stadium: Craven Cottage (Capacity 22,384)
Manager: Marco Silva (POR)
Last Season: 10th
Fulham made a highly satisfactory return to the Premier League last term. Many expected Marco Silva’s outfit to struggle again at the highest level after their relegation in 2020/21, but they were never in danger of the drop after getting early points on the board. Can the Cottagers consolidate their top-flight status this term, or will they succumb to the dreaded second season syndrome?
Largely unknown to Fulham fans and Premier League followers in general prior to his £20m move from Sporting Lisbon last summer, it didn’t take Palhinha long to make a massive impact in England’s top tier. Primarily a strong, tough tackling defensive midfielder, the Portuguese international is also technically gifted with a great passing range - and can chip in with the odd goal too. He was key to Fulham’s success last term and will be pivotal once more for the Cottagers this season.
It’s been a slow summer up to press on the transfer front for Fulham, who are seemingly at risk of losing top talisman Aleksandar Mitrovic. If the Serbian striker is to leave Craven Cottage, the arrival of Raul Jimenez from Wolves will be even more crucial. The 32-year-old is a talented forward with plenty of Premier League experience under his belt, though he arrives in West London with a serious point to prove after failing to score in 15 top-flight appearances last term.
Fulham will be confident of getting their 2023/24 campaign off to a decent start after a comprehensive 1-3 victory at Goodison Park in last season’s corresponding fixture.
Many clubs of similar stature to Fulham have found their second campaign since returning to the Premier League extremely tough, and we think that will be the case for the Cottagers this term. Marco Silva’s side didn’t end 2022/23 particularly well with eight defeats in their last 13 games, and they’re at risk of falling behind several rivals after a slow summer in the transfer market.
We’re forecasting a relegation fight for Fulham this season, but will Marco Silva’s side survive?
Fulham - To be Relegated: 4.33
