PokerStars has announced the third annual Mystery Bounty Series will run from April 26 to May 4, 2026, offering nine days of non-stop, short-but-sweet, low buy-in mystery bounty action.

There’s a very appealing $3 million guaranteed across the 55-tournament series, with buy-ins ranging between $5.50 and $215–something for everyone. And if your bankroll doesn’t permit you to hop straight into the bigger tournaments, don’t fret, as satellites will be running throughout the series.

Mystery Bounty tournaments combine the thrill and skill of poker tournaments with the excitement and anticipation of a raffle or lottery. Huge prizes can be won, and you don’t even need to be near the end of the tournament to win them.

What makes them mysterious? Once you’re in the bounty stage (commonly once you’re in the money), you’ll win a prize for knocking out an opponent–but you won’t know how much until after.

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about the Mystery Bounty Series 2026, from the full schedule and key events to how the format works and strategy tips.

HOW MYSTERY BOUNTY TOURNAMENTS WORK

mystery bounty

Despite being around for a little while now, the poker world is still buzzing about Mystery Bounty tournaments. It’s the mix of vanilla MTTs, knockout stages, and the secrecy/randomness of bounty prizes that makes them so darn compelling.

Most Mystery Bounty tournaments play like standard tournaments for around the first half, with bounty prizes not coming into play until you reach money. A few events start awarding bounties when half or 10 per cent of the field remains.

At that point, a new list of prizes will show up in the tournament lobby and in the tournament window, easily viewed while you’re playing. It will not only list the bounty prizes on offer but also how many there are and, perhaps more importantly, how many remain.

If you’ve never played a Mystery Bounty tournament before and want to brush up on the rules, we suggest you check out this guide:

HOW DO MYSTERY BOUNTY TOURNAMENTS DIFFER FROM BOUNTY BUILDERS?

There are two major differences between Mystery Bounty tournaments and regular Progressive Knockout (PKO)/Bounty Builder events.

The first is, as the name suggests, the mysteriousness of the bounty prizes on offer. In a PKO, the bounty on each player’s head is clearly visible above their avatar, so you know exactly how much you will bank should you eliminate that opponent. In Mystery Bounty tournaments, you can see what the average bounty prize is, but you will not know how much you’ll bank. That’s the mystery, and let me tell you, it’s very exciting. You could win a minimum bounty–the most common prize–but you could get lucky and land the biggest bounty, often a substantial amount of the prize pool.

The other difference is that bounties don’t build throughout the event as they do in PKOs. Everything you win goes straight into your PokerStars balance, so just because you’ve eliminated a lot of players and won a lot of bounties, it doesn’t mean everyone will be clamouring to knock you out.

THE BIGGEST MYSTERY BOUNTY PRIZES

mystery bounty

If you’ve ever won a poker tournament, you know just how good it feels. The pride in knowing you’re the last person standing. The euphoria in knowing you’ve won big. It’s unlike anything else.

But now, in Mystery Bounty tournaments, players can enjoy a similar feeling even with hundreds of players remaining. The biggest mystery bounty prize is often similar to or larger than the regular first-place prize.

So, what’s it like to win the biggest Mystery Bounty prize? How do you celebrate while still playing? Moreover, how do you keep your composure and continue to focus on the rest of the tournament?

To find out, we spoke with several big bounty winners from a previous Mystery Bounty Series on PokerStars. Here are their stories.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR MYSTERY BOUNTY SERIES EVENTS

While you can buy-in directly to every event on the Mystery Bounty Series 2026 schedule, you’ll also find satellites and other ways to qualify on PokerStars.

Satellite qualification for tournaments begins at just $0.55, and there may also be special Spin & Gos awarding Mystery Bounty Series tickets as prizes.

Buy-ins for the series range from $5.50 to $215, so there’s a nice spread. But don’t stretch yourself–use these qualification routes where you can.
